October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month

by Shannon on October 5, 2011

To be honest, I never gave much thought to my breasts until I started breastfeeding. Before that, they were just something that I liked to look good in a nice dress or top. Since I’ve been a D cup since I was 12, guys gave my breasts far more attention than I did :)

I did the regular self breast exam but really didn’t give much concern to it.

When I decided to breastfeed, my breasts became very meaningful to me. They are the source of nourishment and connection between me and my daughter. They have provided her with nutrients and life. It also made me more “in tune” with my own body and appreciative of it.

This month is Breast Cancer Awareness Month. It’s so important that we give attention to this month and the actions being taken to help prevent Breast Cancer. So many women and moms die each year from this disease. Let’s support the research and help women live long, healthy, cancer free lives.

This is a great article on how to keep your breasts healthy.
